I recently came across this nickel, and did a double take when i saw this familiar face staring back at me. I was at work, and ran to ask the only other person with me to look at it without saying a word. He immediately said, oh, yes, i see, i see. I thought it was pretty cool, so I just kept it in my coin purse for a few days (thought maybe it would bring me good luck) I posted the photo on facebook just to share it with friends, and they all told me I would be crazy not to try and list it on ebay. At this point, I had no idea that people were listing potato chips, grilled cheese sandwiches, and banana peels that supposedly resembled the divine. I told my friend to do some research for me, so she did, and I thought, why not, I'll list it and see what happens. I saw a potato chip that was supposed to resemble elvis for 12,000. I saw the grilled cheese that supposedly looked like the virgin mary for 28,000. I think this nickel resembles jesus more than any of those have in the past. In my research, I even came across the joke, your momma is so old, she owes jesus a nickel. Maybe this is the one. For those of you who are wondering if I made this image myself, I give my word, I did not. I'm not sure if I had the nickel for a while in my possession, or if it is one of the coins that I accidentally spilled water on, then threw into a tin that I keep loose change in, and the oils/rust/ residue from other coins caused the image to appear. I don't have the answer to how it appeared. I just saw it while gathering change one night. I'm not a religious fanatic, although I do believe in God. Even if this is just some sort of subconscious reminder to believe that everything is going to be all right, and to keep faith, then I will take comfort in that. I am not poking fun at religion, nor others beliefs. I do live by the golden rule, treat others how you yourself would like to be treated. And I do believe in karma, and repercussions. Therefore, for those of you who may believe that this is some sort of hoax, or joke, I assure you it is not. Believe what you want. I think this nickel is pretty amazing. |
